I have recently experienced this bug of Google Chrome not playing You Tube videos.It just plays for the first two seconds and then stops.I first thought it's problem with Google Chrome.But when I tried it in my other browsers, I realised my Google Chrome,Firefox and even Flock don't play YouTube video.After doing some research I came to know that it's due to the incompatibility of newest version of Macromedia Flash Player.So as a temporary fix, follow the following procedure.
Problem:You Tube video plays for 2 seconds and stops in Firefox,Google Chrome and Flock.
Solution:
- Download the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller:
- Windows: uninstall_flash_player.exe (181 KB) (updated 04/08/08)
- Mac OS X: uninstall_flash_player_osx.dmg (1.3 MB) (updated 5/27/08)
- Mac OS 8.x, 9.x: uninstall_flash_player.hqx (33 KB)
- Save the file to your system (for example, your desktop). Macintosh users may need to open or unstuff the .hqx file.
- Quit ALL running applications, including all Internet Explorer or other browser windows, AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, or other Messengers. Check the Windows system tray carefully to make certain no applications are still in memory which might possibly use Flash Player.
- Run the uninstaller. This will remove Adobe Flash Player from all browsers on the system.
- Now reboot your PC.
- Download Macromedia Flash Player v.9.0.0.47 from here .
- Install it and now start your browser to see YouTube Videos.
- Enjoy!!!!!!!!!

Apparently there are different releases of the same version of the Flash-Player for Windows. One is for ActiveX based browsers (i.e. IE) and another is for plug-in based ones (the rest). Ignoring this fact, some weeks ago I've updated the Flash-Player to version 9.0.124, but I didn't know it was only the one used by FireFox and Chrome (flashplayer9r124_win.exe). IE kept using the previous 9.0.115 version. I then realized that Chrome stopped playing YouTube videos after a couple of seconds. Firefox and IE kept playing them well however.
After reading this post, I've updated the FlashPlayer used exclusively by IE (flashplayer9r124_winax.exe), to match the other, and then magic: Chrome now plays Youtube videos perfectly well.
My hunch was that there could be some wrong interaction between the two Flash-Players when they belonged to different versions. So my suggestions is: update both players to the latest version (or to the same version at least, if not the latest).

- Internet Explorer: flashplayer9r124_winax.exe

No need to do all that. Just do SHIFT+ESC to bring up Chrome's task manager, and then End Process on the Shockwave Flash Plugin. Then reload the tab(s) with audio problems.

Step 1 - Remove crappy browser.
Step 2 - Realized that g00gle is NOT the whole internet and there is already an amazing browser called FIREFOX!
Step 3 - Value your technology freedom
Step 4 - Uninstall Chrome
Step 5 - Use Firefox

Would just like to thank you for this great tip! I flirted with Firefox for awhile, but I just love Google Chrome. However, the YouTube (all videos, really) bug was making me go back to clunky old IE more than I was comfortable with.
Your "fix" worked perfectly for me, and now I can keep on keepin' on with Chrome. Thanks again!

This problem happens to me sporadically in Linux. A reboot fixes the issue but, unfortunately, no amount of uninstalling and reinstalling Flash seems to help.
In case any of your other readers are experiencing this issue, Opera seems to work better for Flash than Firefox under linux.

Your problem may probably be becoz of the memory allocation settings of your flash plugin.Just right click on any flash and select settings.In the settings check for the memory limit and put it as big as much u can afford.

funny thing is it has own flash player built in you used to be able download flash player and change the exe to zip and replace the one in chrome folder but seems can't unpack flash player any more
